Horizons New York City’s mission is to promote education equity in New York by implementing critical summer and out-of-school programs that serve children from systemically under-resourced communities and focuses on a sustained commitment to its students to ensure that they have opportunities, skills, and confidence to fulfill their potential.
This year, Horizons NYC announced that the addition of two new programs this summer at the Gateway School and LaGuardia Community College, expanding its reach and impact in New York City. Over 40,000 students who applied for NYC Public School’s Summer Rising program last year didn’t get offered a seat. Programs like Horizons are more necessary than ever.
Beginning with its free, six-week summer enrichment programs, Horizons help students find joy in learning, gain confidence, expand horizons, and develop resilience. Year after year, students return to engage in programs that include academics, the arts, swimming, and more. A professional staff of teachers, counselors, and social workers develop powerful long-term relationships that serve as an enduring community of support for students and their families.
